Sunetra Pawar, wife of Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, has expressed her willingness to join the Union Council of Ministers if given the opportunity. Speaking during campaigning in the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency, which is a stronghold of the Pawar family, she indicated her readiness to accept any ministerial berth offered to her. Sunetra Pawar, a member of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), acknowledged the party's introspection following her loss in the Baramati Lok Sabha seat and mentioned that corrective measures would be taken based on the analysis.
Despite receiving a positive response from the public during her campaign, Sunetra Pawar graciously accepted the voters' verdict. She stated to reporters that she would indeed seize the opportunity if given a chance to serve in the central ministry.
Currently, Sunetra Pawar is set to be elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha after filing her nomination papers as the NCP candidate for a by-poll in Maharashtra. The grand reception she received upon arriving in Pune reflects her standing within the local NCP unit. Notably, the NCP, led by her husband Ajit Pawar, has no representation in the newly formed BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, despite declining the BJP's offer to appoint senior leader Praful Patel as a Minister of State with independent charge.
