On the occasion of former Chief Minister K Kamaraj's birth anniversary on July 15, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced the extension of the Morning Breakfast Scheme to government-aided schools across the state. This scheme, which initially benefited government primary school students since its launch on September 15, 2022, has now been expanded to cover 2,33,536 students from 3,995 government-aided primary schools.
Stalin emphasized the importance of ensuring that Tamil Nadu students face no barriers to education, including issues like hunger, the controversial NEET exam, and the National Education Policy (NEP) introduced by the central government. He highlighted the widespread opposition to NEET across India, citing student protests and concerns raised by several chief ministers and national leaders.
During an event where he shared a meal with students at St. Anne’s School, Stalin criticized the central government's handling of NEET and questioned its stance on education policy, urging for greater state autonomy in education matters. He assured continued political and legal efforts against NEET and NEP, urging students to focus on their studies, which he described as invaluable wealth.
