Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to Russia, beginning with a private dinner hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin at his dacha, a country house located on the outskirts of Moscow, on Monday evening. Modi will touch down at Vnukovo-II International Airport in Moscow around 5:30 PM, where he will be honored with a ceremonial guard of honor. Following his arrival, Modi will proceed to his hotel, where he will be greeted with a performance of Garba, a traditional dance, by Russian artists. Later in the evening, he will attend the private dinner hosted by Putin.
This visit, scheduled for July 8 and 9, comes at the invitation of President Putin for the 22nd India-Russia bilateral summit. Over these two days, Modi and Putin will engage in discussions covering the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, including key areas such as defense, investment, energy cooperation, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.Â
On Tuesday, Modi will interact with over 100 students of Indian origin from Kendriya Vidyalaya in Moscow. Additionally, he will pay his respects by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Kremlin on July 9 and will also visit the Rosatom pavilion at an exhibition venue in Moscow.
This marks Prime Minister Modi's first visit to Russia since the country’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. His previous visit to Russia was in 2019 when he participated in an economic conclave in Vladivostok, a city in the Far East. It is also worth noting that the 21st India-Russia Annual Bilateral Summit took place in New Delhi in December 2021, during which President Putin visited India.
