BJP leader Anurag Thakur congratulated Rahul Gandhi on becoming the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, highlighting that this new role would be a significant test, or "agnipariksha," for the Congress leader. During a discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address, Thakur emphasized the various economic achievements of the NDA government over the past decade. He contrasted these accomplishments with the Congress's record, accusing them of economic mismanagement and corruption during their tenure.
Thakur pointed out that the BJP has kept those opposed to the Constitution on the Opposition benches for the third consecutive term and noted that Gandhi's new position comes with both power and responsibility, a shift from what Thakur described as Gandhi's previous state of enjoying power without responsibility. Thakur also questioned whether Gandhi would consistently attend the Lok Sabha sessions, noting his absence during Thakur's remarks, which led to protests from Opposition members.
Thakur asserted that India has transformed from a fragile economy into the world's fifth-largest and fastest-growing economy under the Modi-led government. He claimed there have been no corruption charges against the current administration, contrasting this with what he described as economic failures, crony capitalism, and scams during Congress rule.
