Assamese tattoo artist discovered dead in Maharashtra; boyfriend absconding

A 26-year-old woman tattoo artist from Assam, Shantikriya Kashyap, also known as Koel, was found dead with multiple head injuries in Murtizapur town of Maharashtra's Akola district. Police suspect her boyfriend, Kunal Shringare, whom she had befriended on social media, of killing her.

Shringare, aged 30, is currently on the run, and efforts are being made to apprehend him. The police discovered Kashyap's body on July 24 at Shringare's residence in Pratik Nagar locality. Kashyap had sustained multiple head injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon.

Kashyap, originally from Assam, had been living in Delhi with her mother for the past six years and had established herself as a tattoo artist. Recently, she has been working in Mumbai. According to the investigation, Kashyap and Shringare became friends through social media. Shringare had invited her to Murtizapur, promising to find her a job. She arrived on July 21 and stayed with him. Shringare, who worked as a waiter at a local bar, lived alone. He took her to the bar to seek employment for her, but the bar owner refused.

On the night of July 23, an argument erupted between Shringare and Kashyap, leading Shringare to attack her with a sharp weapon in a fit of rage. Neighbors reported suspicious activities the next morning, prompting the police to break into Shringare's house, where they found Kashyap's body. Shringare fled after the murder, and a case has been registered against him under section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
