Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a directive to the chief ministers of BJP-ruled states to ensure the full and unaltered implementation of central government welfare schemes for the poor, sources told India Today TV. This mandate came during the two-day BJP Chief Ministers' Council meeting that concluded on Sunday.
Attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the meeting focused on aligning state-level execution with the Centre's objectives. According to sources, PM Modi emphasized that no changes should be made by the states to the central government's welfare schemes, underscoring the importance of maintaining their original structure and purpose.
For instance, if the Centre provides 5 kg of food grains per person to a family under the Pradhan Mantri Anna Yojana, the state governments should neither increase nor decrease the quantity. This consistency ensures that the intended beneficiaries receive the proper support, and that the integrity of the scheme remains intact.
PM Modi highlighted the importance of focusing on beneficiary schemes to ensure they are implemented effectively. He urged BJP workers to actively participate in the execution of these schemes, ensuring that the right people benefit and preventing misuse by unauthorized individuals.
On Saturday, the chief ministers presented detailed reports showcasing the achievements of their respective governments during their tenure. This session included comprehensive presentations from the chief ministers of five states, including Uttar Pradesh and Assam, who outlined their progress and strategies in various sectors.
"The PM not only took feedback from the chief ministers but also encouraged the leaders of other states to adopt successful governance policies that have proven beneficial for the people," said sources. This approach aims to standardize effective practices across states, enhancing the overall impact of governance and development initiatives.
PM Modi's directive is part of a broader strategy to ensure that central welfare schemes reach their intended beneficiaries without dilution. By maintaining strict adherence to the original parameters of these schemes, the central government aims to uphold the welfare of the poor and ensure uniformity in the distribution of resources and benefits across the country.
This directive comes at a crucial time as the BJP gears up for upcoming elections. Ensuring the proper implementation of welfare schemes is seen as a key strategy to garner support and demonstrate the party's commitment to the welfare of the poor and marginalized sections of society.
