Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw strongly criticized Rahul Gandhi's recent remarks in the Lok Sabha, accusing him of making irresponsible and false statements about the Agniveer scheme. Vaishnaw, speaking at a press conference, highlighted that as Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi holds a position of great responsibility but failed to demonstrate it with his comments.
Vaishnaw specifically rebutted Rahul Gandhi's claim that martyrs wouldn't receive compensation under the Agniveer scheme, emphasizing that the scheme indeed provides Rs 1 crore compensation to martyrs, as clarified by the Defence Minister. He accused Congress of repeatedly raising false narratives about the scheme to mislead the public.
Furthermore, Vaishnaw condemned Rahul Gandhi for allegedly disparaging remarks about Hindu society during his speech. He described Gandhi's comments as insulting and inappropriate for someone in the position of Leader of the Opposition, asserting that such statements have saddened the entire country.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also weighed in, indicating that there is a request to the Speaker to establish guidelines for addressing unverified statements made by MPs. Rijiju emphasized that MPs, including the Leader of the Opposition, must face consequences if found lying in Parliament, adhering to parliamentary rules and regulations.
The controversy sparked by Rahul Gandhi's remarks underscores the ongoing tensions and heated debates in the Indian Parliament, highlighting the sensitive nature of political discourse in the country.
