Erik Ten Hag gives Manchester United's management credit for their proactive transfer decisions

Manchester United's recent strides in the transfer market have drawn praise from manager Erik ten Hag, who attributed the club's proactive approach to the leadership's swift decision-making. This new era at Old Trafford, under the influence of British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, who acquired a 25% stake in football operations earlier this year, has brought about a refreshing change and innovative strategies.

The club's latest signings, Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, highlight United's ambitious transfer policy. French defender Yoro, 18 years old, joined on a five-year contract for a significant fee of 62 million euros, fending off interest from top clubs like Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Dutch striker Zirkzee, 23, arrives with experience from Serie A club Bologna and participation in the European Championship, for a fee of 42.5 million euros on a similar contract term.

Ten Hag emphasized the importance of being proactive in the transfer market to prepare for the upcoming season, expressing satisfaction with United's decisive actions. He commented, "It is very good that we are on the front foot; we are very proactive. The leadership is doing a great job at the moment, and that’s how we want to act as United."

Yoro made an immediate impact in his debut during a pre-season friendly against Rangers, contributing to United's 2-0 victory. Zirkzee, given post-tournament rest after Euro 2020, is expected to integrate into the squad in August. The team's focus now turns to their pre-season tour in the United States, where they will play against Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool, commencing shortly after their departure on Wednesday.

Off the field, United continues their diligent efforts in bolstering their squad, particularly in midfield. Reports suggest interest in Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi, indicating ongoing strategic planning to further strengthen their roster.

With a proactive approach and promising signings, Manchester United under Jim Ratcliffe's influence aims to build a competitive team for the upcoming season, setting high ambitions and actively shaping their future in the football landscape.
