Two days after the discovery of blood-stained suitcases containing human remains at the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, UK, a significant breakthrough occurred in the case. According to The Guardian, a 34-year-old Colombian national named Yostin Andres Mosquera was arrested on Saturday at a railway station in Bristol in connection with the incident.
The discovery of the suitcases had prompted a large-scale police response and a subsequent manhunt. Additional human remains were later found at a flat in west London during the investigation by Scotland Yard.
The incident began when Avon and Somerset police responded to a report of a suspicious individual on the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Upon arrival, they discovered two suitcases, each containing human remains. The bridge, a historic landmark dating back to 1864, was temporarily closed for over 24 hours following the discovery.
Further investigations led police to the flat on Scotts Road in west London, where more human remains were uncovered. Authorities have confirmed that the remains found both at the bridge and the flat belong to two men.
On Thursday, police released an image of the suspect, who was seen allegedly depositing the suitcases on the bridge before fleeing on foot late at night.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine expressed understanding for the concerns of local communities in Bristol and London affected by the incident, assuring ongoing police presence in the Clifton and Shepherd’s Bush areas to provide reassurance during this tragic development.
