IAS officer trainee claims in media trial that one is innocent until proven guilty

Trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar, facing allegations of misrepresentation regarding her disability status in the Civil Services examination, has responded by stating that she will fully cooperate with the expert committee investigating the matter. Calling the current scrutiny a "media trial," Khedkar emphasized her commitment to abide by the decision of the committee, stating, "I will testify before the committee and accept whatever decision they make."

Khedkar had previously submitted two medical certificates, claiming visual impairment and mental illness, under the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities category to the Union Public Service Commission. However, recent reports indicated that she also attempted to obtain a third medical certificate from a hospital in Pune, a request that was denied by the medical facility.

The controversy has drawn attention since allegations surfaced that Khedkar sought unauthorized privileges from the Pune Collector's office. The Central government has established a single-member committee to review the documentation submitted by Khedkar during her application process for the civil services examination.
