In her first address after receiving Biden's endorsement, Kamala Harris celebrates Biden's legacy

In her first public remarks following President Joe Biden's decision to withdraw from the presidential race, Vice-President Kamala Harris lauded Biden's achievements over the past three years as "unmatched in modern history." Speaking at a White House event honoring NCAA Champion teams, Harris noted that Biden's accomplishments within a single term surpass those of many presidents who have served two terms.

Harris reflected on her personal connection with Biden through his late son, Beau, sharing how she learned about Biden’s character and values from him. She described Biden as a man of honesty, integrity, and deep love for the country, qualities she has witnessed firsthand in his presidency. Harris also mentioned that Biden, who was unable to attend the event due to his recovery from Covid-19, is improving and recuperating quickly.

Following Biden’s surprise announcement on July 21 that he would step down from the re-election race for the good of his party and the country, he endorsed Harris as his successor for the 2024 Democratic nomination. Harris committed to working to unite the Democratic Party and the nation to challenge Donald Trump. Prominent Democrats, including Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, have rallied behind Harris as she seeks the nomination.
