Official data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics in March indicated a net overseas migration of 548,800 people during the year ending September 30, 2023. The measures are part of broader efforts to ensure that only genuine students are granted visas, aligning with Australia's economic and migration objectives.
Moreover, the fee increase for Australian student visas now makes them significantly more expensive compared to competitor countries like the US and Canada, where fees are considerably lower.
Furthermore, adjustments to the savings requirement for student visas have been implemented, increasing the minimum savings from AUD 24,505 to AUD 29,710. These changes are aimed at closing loopholes that previously allowed foreign students to extend their stay in Australia repeatedly.
