Kamala Harris says she's prepared for the vice presidential debate and congratulates JD Vance

US Vice-President Kamala Harris, a prominent Indian-American politician, recently contacted Senator JD Vance of Ohio to extend her congratulations on his selection as Donald Trump’s prospective running mate. Harris conveyed her well-wishes and expressed optimism about the possibility of facing Vance in a debate organized by CBS News, as disclosed by sources within the Biden campaign familiar with their conversation.

A Biden campaign official informed Fox News that Vice-President Harris reached out directly to Senator Vance, leaving a message to acknowledge his selection, welcome him to the electoral competition, and convey her hope for a substantive debate opportunity proposed by CBS News.

Earlier in May, Donald Trump agreed to a vice-presidential debate hosted on Fox News for his future running mate. However, the Biden campaign has expressed preference for participating in debates hosted by CBS News, according to reports by Fox News.

Sources close to the Biden campaign indicated that CBS has proposed scheduling the first vice-presidential debate for August 13 in Washington, DC. The Biden campaign had already accepted CBS News' invitation in May, as reported by The New York Times.

A Biden campaign spokesperson, TJ Ducklo, affirmed to The New York Times that Vice-President Kamala Harris is fully prepared to engage in a debate with JD Vance, should it materialize.

Despite discussions, no confirmation has been issued regarding the vice-presidential debate. Analysts at Fox News anticipate that if Vance and Harris were to debate, it could pose a challenging scenario for the Vice-President.

Recently, former US President Donald Trump announced JD Vance, a Republican senator from Ohio, as his prospective vice-presidential nominee, shortly after surviving an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. Trump made this announcement on his Truth Social media platform at the commencement of the four-day Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where the party is set to nominate its presidential ticket.

JD Vance, aged 39, had been a vocal critic of Trump during the 2016 elections but has since become one of his steadfast supporters. Vance credited his wife's Hindu faith for aiding him in navigating personal and professional challenges, and for fostering a deeper understanding of his own Catholic faith.

President Biden, aged 81, and former President Trump, aged 78, have agreed to participate in two presidential debates. The first debate took place on CNN on June 27, and the second is scheduled to be hosted by ABC on September 10.
