Man is held captive by a thrashed man in Kolkata; he is saved by a brave policeman

A traffic constable in Kolkata recently intervened heroically to save a man from being attacked by a mob who mistook him for a mobile phone snatcher near NRS Medical College and Hospital. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the group began assaulting the man with belts and shoes. Constable Swapan Majumdar rushed to the scene and despite being shoved by the mob, he managed to protect the victim and called for backup.

Police officials praised Majumdar's swift action, noting that his intervention likely saved the man from serious harm. Additional officers arrived promptly and managed to rescue both the constable and the victim from the violent mob.

This incident highlights the risks faced by innocent individuals amidst rising incidents of vigilantism related to theft suspicions, as recently seen in other cases in Kolkata where individuals were severely beaten over similar suspicions.
