The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Pankaj Kumar from Patna, Bihar, and Raju Singh from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, for their alleged roles in the NEET paper leak scam. These arrests took place on Tuesday, adding to the ongoing investigation into the theft of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) question papers.
Pankaj Kumar is identified as a member of the paper leak mafia and is accused of stealing the NEET-UG question papers with assistance from Raju Singh. These arrests are part of a broader crackdown on the scam, which has already seen nine individuals arrested for their involvement. Among these, arrests were made in Gujarat's Latur and Godhra for alleged manipulation and in Dehradun concerning a general conspiracy.
The CBI also has custody of 13 other accused, including the case's kingpin, Rocky alias Rakesh Ranjan, who was apprehended in Bihar on July 12. The investigation was launched in response to a nationwide outcry by students over suspected irregularities in the entrance exam. So far, the CBI has registered six First Information Reports (FIRs) related to the case.
