Son-in-law of former Karnataka minister BC Patil commits suicide


On Monday, the son-in-law of former Karnataka minister and BJP leader BC Patil was found dead by suicide. His body was discovered inside his car, along with a bottle of poison.

Pratap, who was married to BC Patil's elder daughter, Sowmya, was found in his car parked near a forested area in the Arakere region of Davangere district.

According to the police, Pratap called his family after 3:30 p.m. on Monday to inform them that he had ingested poison.

Upon being alerted, the police rushed him to a hospital in Honnali taluk. Subsequently, he was transferred to McGann Hospital in Shivamogga, where he eventually passed away.

Davangere Superintendent of Police Uma Prashant provided details on the incident: "He consumed poison and then informed his family members. After locating him, he was initially shifted to Channagiri Hospital, where he was found to be in critical condition. The doctor there referred him to McGann Hospital in Shivamogga, where he was declared dead."

SP Prashant added, "We have not found any death note at the scene. The family has neither filed a complaint nor mentioned any reason for the act. We are currently waiting for them to file a complaint."
