Tamil Nadu burglar who used stolen money to purchase a Rs 4 crore cotton mill has been nabbed

The Coimbatore City Police recently apprehended Moorthy, alias 'Rodman', a notorious 36-year-old burglar responsible for more than 50 housebreaks across Tamil Nadu. Moorthy and his gang, including accomplice Amsaraj, targeted houses located near railway tracks due to lower traffic and minimal surveillance, facilitating their criminal activities.

Moorthy, nicknamed 'Rodman' for his method of using a rod to pry open doors silently during burglaries, managed to steal approximately 1,500 sovereigns of gold jewelry and several crores in cash from these targeted residences. With the illicit proceeds, he reportedly purchased two cars and a cotton mill valued at Rs 4.5 crore.

Police efforts intensified over the past three months across various districts including Tiruppur, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Sivagangai, and Chennai, leading to Moorthy's identification and subsequent arrest. They continue their search for other members of his gang, namely Manoj Kumar, Sudhakar, Ram Prakash, and Prakash.

Moorthy's modus operandi involved meticulous reconnaissance to identify locked houses before executing burglaries, often wearing a mask and long-sleeved shirt to conceal his identity. His arrest marks a significant breakthrough in curbing organized crime in the region, underscoring the police's ongoing efforts to maintain public safety and combat burglary rings.
