The BMW hit-and-run suspect, Mihir Shah, told police, "My career is over." References

Mihir Shah, accused of killing a 45-year-old woman in Mumbai by ramming his BMW into her two-wheeler, expressed remorse during police questioning, stating that his career was ruined by the incident. He also admitted to consuming alcohol at two different bars before the crash.

The incident occurred on July 7 when Shah, after heavy drinking, took over the wheel from the BMW's driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, and crashed into a scooter in Worli, killing Kaveri Nakhwa, who was riding pillion, and injuring her husband Pradeep.

Mihir Shah, son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, had been on the run for nearly three days before his arrest. He confessed to the crime and acknowledged the severity of his actions, saying his career was over. Shah had been drinking at a bar in Juhu and another between Borivali and Malad before deciding to drive the car himself.

Following the crash, Shah continued driving recklessly despite knowing that the woman was stuck in the car’s tire and ignoring motorists’ signals to stop. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras at key junctions in Worli.

Police are skeptical of Shah's and Bidawat's statements and are verifying them. They have recreated the crime scene with both men present to gather more information about the sequence of events.

To avoid detection, Shah altered his appearance by shaving his beard and trimming his hair. Police are investigating whether anyone assisted him in this. Although Shah claimed to possess a driving license, it has not yet been recovered.

Mihir Shah's father, Rajesh Shah, a Shiv Sena politician, is also involved in the case and is currently out on bail. Mihir Shah remains in police custody until July 16.
