On Thursday, the Telangana government unveiled its budget for 2024-25, totaling Rs 2.91 lakh crore. The budget includes Rs 2.21 lakh crore for revenue and Rs 33,487 crore for capital expenditures. Total revenue is estimated at Rs 2,90,814 crore, which includes Open Market Loans exceeding Rs 57,000 crore.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who presented the budget, highlighted several key allocations. The government plans to allocate Rs 72,659 crore to agriculture. Additionally, Rs 21,292 crore is proposed for the Education department, and Rs 22,301 crore for Irrigation. For Panchayath Raj and Rural Development, Rs 29,816 crore has been set aside.
Bhatti Vikramarka also noted that Telangana's debt has soared to Rs 6.71 lakh crore, marking a tenfold increase over the past decade without proportional development. Under the current Congress government, the state has raised Rs 35,118 crore in debt while repaying Rs 42,892 crore, including both principal and interest.
