The flood situation in Assam is remains grave, affecting 24 lakh people across 30 districts

In Assam, severe floods have impacted more than 24 lakh individuals across 30 districts, exacerbated by major rivers such as the Brahmaputra exceeding their danger levels. The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, has assured the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, of central government support. Both the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are actively engaged in rescue and relief efforts, responding urgently to the flood-affected areas.

Tragically, landslides and storms have resulted in the loss of 12 lives in the region. Meanwhile, Kaziranga National Park has reported the deaths of 114 wild animals due to the floods, with ongoing efforts to rescue and relocate surviving animals.

In Guwahati, amidst the floodwaters, a heart-wrenching incident unfolded where a father, Hiralal Sarkar, continues his relentless search for his eight-year-old son, Abhinash, who fell into a stormwater drain three days ago. The city's areas like Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, and Rukminigaon remain submerged following heavy rainfall, prompting continuous efforts by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local administration to evacuate stranded residents and use pumps to drain floodwaters from affected zones.
