The former CEO of the Karnataka Waqf Board is accused of a strange Rs 4 crore transaction

An FIR has been registered against Zulfikarullah, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Karnataka waqf board, concerning a suspicious transaction involving Rs 4 crore. This is the second FIR against him, police sources have revealed.

Zulfikarullah, who was the CEO of the waqf board in 2016, is accused of making an unauthorized bank transaction of Rs 4 crore from the Indian Bank’s Bengaluru branch to the Vijaya Bank’s Kolar branch. The first FIR was registered in 2016. The Crime Investigation Department (CID) has since completed its investigation and will be providing the details to the police for further action.

The complaint states that the government had allocated Rs 2.29 crore to the waqf board for the development of a dargah in Kalaburagi. Additionally, Rs 1.79 crore was transferred to the waqf board from the Muzarai department, which manages the revenues of endowed religious and charitable institutions, including temples, mosques, and chattrams.

In total, Rs 4 crore was transferred to the waqf board’s bank account at the Indian Bank in Benson Town, Bengaluru. Zulfikarullah allegedly made an unauthorized transfer of this amount to another waqf department bank account in Kolar. According to the complaint, this unauthorized transaction resulted in a total financial loss of Rs 8 crore for the waqf department.

The waqf board held a meeting and decided to take legal action against Zulfikarullah for these financial irregularities. Ahmed Abbas, the chief accounting officer of the waqf board, filed the case at the High Grounds Police Station.

Notably, the Congress government, with Siddaramaiah as the chief minister, was in power in the state in 2016 when these transactions occurred.
