Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, accusing him of facilitating "love jihad" and "land jihad" through policies that allegedly lead to demographic changes in the tribal state. Speaking at a gathering of BJP workers in Ranchi's Prabhat Tara Ground, Shah criticized Soren for what he described as a focus on vote bank politics and appeasement measures that he claims are detrimental to the interests of tribals in Jharkhand.
Shah specifically highlighted concerns about the increase in infiltration into Jharkhand, alleging that outsiders are marrying tribal women to obtain local certificates and purchase land, which he asserts is diminishing the tribal population. He claimed that these actions are not only causing demographic shifts but also depriving local residents of job opportunities.
Promising action if the BJP comes to power in Jharkhand, Shah vowed to publish a 'White Paper' on demography to safeguard tribal lands, rights, and reservations. He emphasized the BJP's electoral success in winning 52 out of 81 Assembly segments in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls as a sign of public support for their agenda.
Accusing the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government, in alliance with the Congress, of corruption, Shah cited instances of alleged financial misconduct involving significant sums of money found in the possession of politicians affiliated with these parties. He asserted that such corruption is rampant within the current administration and called for a change in leadership.
Shah's statements underscore sharp political rhetoric aimed at positioning the BJP as the alternative to what he portrays as a failing and corrupt government in Jharkhand, setting the stage for upcoming political battles in the state.
