Three men wearing helmets are shown on camera robbing a Mumbai jewelry store at gunpoint

In a daring heist that has sent shockwaves through the Navi Mumbai community, three unidentified armed men looted jewelry worth over Rs 11 lakh from BM Jewellers in the Kharghar area on Sunday night. The incident, which took place at approximately 10:30 PM, saw the robbers open fire multiple times before fleeing the scene.

According to the police, the men entered the jewelry store wearing helmets to conceal their identities. CCTV footage of the incident showed the accused threatening the staff and looting the jewelry. One of the robbers fired shots inside the shop and assaulted a staff member who tried to switch on the alarm. The men then fled on a motorcycle while some locals attempted to chase them, but the robbers managed to escape.

A team of Navi Mumbai Police quickly arrived at the scene upon receiving information about the robbery. An official from the Navi Mumbai Police told the news agency PTI, "Wearing black clothes and armed with revolvers, the three entered the shop, threatened the staff, assaulted them, and looted jewelry worth Rs 11.80 lakh. In three minutes, they shot four to five rounds, though no one was injured."

The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act for dacoity and other offenses. An official added, "Efforts are being made to arrest the three accused, and a thorough investigation has been launched into the matter."

The incident has raised concerns about security measures in the area and prompted calls for increased police presence to deter such crimes. The daring nature of the heist and the use of firearms have particularly alarmed the local community, who are now urging authorities to take swift action to bring the culprits to justice.

Local shopkeepers and residents have expressed their fears and frustrations following the incident. One shopkeeper, who wished to remain anonymous, said, "This kind of incident makes us all very nervous. We hope the police can catch these criminals quickly so that we can feel safe again."

The brazen robbery serves as a stark reminder of the need for enhanced security measures, especially in commercial areas. As the investigation continues, the police are likely to increase patrols and implement additional safety protocols to prevent further incidents and reassure the community of their safety.
