Two get hurt after a gate collapses during Mamata Banerjee's function in Kolkata

At an event organized by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department at Dhanadhanya Auditorium in Kolkata to commemorate the 44th death anniversary of legendary actor Uttam Kumar, a temporary gate collapsed, injuring two people. The incident occurred on Wednesday during a cultural event attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The injured individuals were promptly taken to the hospital.

A video capturing the aftermath shows an injured person being carried to an ambulance by bystanders. The event, aimed at honoring Uttam Kumar, featured the Chief Minister presenting Mahanayak awards to film personalities.

The Dhanadhanya Auditorium, where the event took place, was unveiled by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on April 13, 2023. This event reflects the ongoing tradition of the Trinamool Congress-led state government, which has commemorated the death anniversary of Uttam Kumar, the most celebrated actor in the state, since retaining power in 2021.

Uttam Kumar, born on July 24, 1980, is revered for his iconic films, including "Saheb Bibi Golam" (1956), "Harano Sur" (1957), and "Saptapadi" (1961), among others.
