'Used songs without permission' in Kannada star Rakshit Shetty's film, complaint submitted

Kannada actor Rakshit Shetty has been issued a notice in response to a copyright lawsuit filed by a music firm, alleging that songs from their catalog were used without permission in his film Bachelor Party.

Naveen Kumar, a partner at MRT Music, lodged the complaint, accusing Shetty and his production company, Paramvah Studios, of unauthorized use of songs from the films Nyaya Ellide and Gaalimaathu. Despite discussions in January 2024 to acquire the rights, the negotiations failed, and the songs were still used in Bachelor Party, which was released on Amazon Prime in March 2024.

The Bengaluru Police have registered an FIR and are currently investigating the case. Officials have issued a notice to Shetty, requesting his response to the allegations.

Rakshit Shetty is a well-known actor and filmmaker in Kannada cinema, recognized with a National Film Award and two Karnataka State Film Awards.
