A tragic accident occurred on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway in Ghaziabad on Saturday, July 20, resulting in the deaths of a mother and her son. Officials reported that a speeding car, driving in the wrong direction, collided with their scooter. The collision was so intense that both the mother and son were flung several meters into the air before landing far away on the road.
CCTV footage captured the high-speed Alto car traveling on the wrong side of the expressway and hitting the scooter head-on. The incident happened around 8 pm. Emergency services rushed the victims to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, they succumbed to their injuries.
The victims were identified as 20-year-old Yash Gautam and his 40-year-old mother, Manju Devi, both residents of West Vinod Nagar in Delhi. The police have arrested the driver of the car and are conducting further investigations into the matter.
It is important to note that two-wheelers are completely banned on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.
