Video: Three "drunk" men assault and kick a Punjabi police officer during a fight at a hospital

A police official was assaulted by at least three allegedly drunk men in Pathankot's Civil Hospital following a confrontation on Tuesday night. The incident occurred when Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Surendra Kumar questioned the men for roaming inside the hospital premises.

Initially, the men engaged in a verbal spat with the ASI, which quickly escalated into a physical assault. Surendra Kumar sustained serious injuries from the attack. A video of the incident, showing the men slapping, punching, and kicking the ASI, went viral on social media.

The nearby police station was alerted, and a team was dispatched to the scene. The injured ASI was admitted to the hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. One of the accused was arrested by the police shortly after the incident.

In a statement to the media, the injured officer explained, "I was on duty at the hospital late at night. When I saw three men roaming around, I questioned them. They started abusing and assaulting me, resulting in injuries."

Pathankot Police have filed a case and launched a manhunt to apprehend the remaining two suspects. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sumer Singh commented, "Last night, we received information about one of our colleagues being assaulted by a few men. We have registered a case in connection with the matter and arrested one of the accused. Further investigation is underway. No such incident will be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against the accused."
