Watch: Heavy rain smashes Mumbai, causing waterlogging and traffic bottlenecks

The weather department has forecasted more rainfall for Mumbai, issuing an orange alert for the city as some areas may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on Sunday. Late on Saturday night, moderate to heavy rain caused waterlogging issues in several parts of Mumbai.

Vehicles struggled through flooded streets, with notable waterlogging on the Western Express Highway, near Mumbai airport, and Andheri subway, leading to traffic jams. Around gate no. 8 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, significant waterlogging was observed after the rain.

Authorities issued a high tide warning of 3.69 meters at 4:39 pm on Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to range between 29 and 24 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas on Sunday. Additionally, a red alert was issued for Satara, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, and Ratnagiri in Maharashtra.

On Friday, heavy rain lashed Mumbai and its suburbs, resulting in waterlogging in low-lying areas and causing major disruptions across the city, including traffic congestion and flight operation delays. A dense cloud cover further reduced visibility in many parts of Mumbai, affecting flight services from Mumbai Airport.
