A fraud investigation is underway against 27 Telangana hospitals related to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Telangana has launched a significant probe into allegations of fraud involving the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF). This investigation has targeted 27 hospitals across the state, with six First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against them. The inquiry was prompted by a complaint from DNS Murthy, a Section Officer from the Revenue Department of CMRF in the Telangana Secretariat. This complaint highlighted serious concerns about forgery and financial misconduct associated with the management of the CMRF under the previous administration. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has supported the investigation, aiming to address the alleged misuse of funds intended for assisting underprivileged patients.

The CID's investigation has uncovered that the alleged scam involved a coordinated effort among hospital staff, local residents, and some government officials. These individuals are accused of creating and submitting false medical bills to the CMRF, fraudulently seeking reimbursements that were meant to support patients in genuine need. The financial impact of this scam is reportedly considerable, as substantial amounts of money were diverted from their intended purpose, affecting the availability of resources for legitimate medical care.

The hospitals implicated in the scam are distributed across several districts in Telangana:

In Hyderabad District, the hospitals include Aruna Sree Multi Specialty Hospital, Sri Krishna Hospital, Janani Hospital, Hiranyaa Hospital, Delta Hospital, Sree Raksha Hospital, MMS Hospital, ADRM Multi Specialty Hospital, MMV Indira Multi Specialty Hospital, and Sri Sai Thirumala Hospital.

In Khammam District, the implicated hospitals are Sri Srikara Multispeciality Hospital, Global Multispecialty Hospital, Dr. J.R. Prasad Hospital, Sri Vinayaka Super Speciality Hospital, Sri Sai Multi Specialty Hospital, Vyshnavi Hospital, Sujatha Hospital, New Amrutha Hospital, Orange Hospital, and Megasri Hospital.

Nalgonda District includes Naveena Multi Specialty Hospital, Mahesh Multi Specialty Hospital, and Amma Hospital.

In Karimnagar District, the affected hospitals are Sapthagiri Hospital and Sri Sai Hospital.

Warangal District has Rohini Medicare Pvt. Ltd. implicated, while Mahabubabad District includes Sri Sanjeevini Hospital and Siddhartha Hospital.

The CID is working to determine the full extent of the fraud and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. This financial mismanagement has caused significant concern as it undermines the trust in the CMRF, which was established to provide crucial support to individuals in dire need of medical assistance. The investigation is expected to reveal the complete scope of the fraudulent activities and reinforce the safeguards necessary to protect the fund from future misuse.
