A lifetime achievement award from Raj Kapoor will be given to Asha Parekh


Veteran actor Asha Parekh is set to receive the prestigious Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award, a significant honor bestowed by the Maharashtra government. The awards ceremony, which will take place on August 21 at the NSCI Dome in Worli, Mumbai, will be attended by prominent figures including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar.

Asha Parekh celebrated for her iconic roles in classic Hindi films such as *Kati Patang*, *Teesri Manzil*, and *Caravan*, will be recognized for her extraordinary contributions to Indian cinema with this lifetime achievement award. Alongside Parekh, actor Shivaji Satam, widely known for his portrayal of ACP Pradyuman in the long-running TV series *CID*, will be honored with the Chitrapati V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award.

The event will also see director N Chandra, famed for films like *Tezaab* and *Ankush*, receiving the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award. Writer-director Digpal Lanjekar, renowned for his films centered on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, including *Pawankhind* and *Fatteshikast*, will be honored with the Chitrapati V Shantaram Special Contribution Award.

The awards to Asha Parekh and Shivaji Satam include a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh each, along with citations and mementos. N Chandra and Digpal Lanjekar will each receive Rs 6 lakh, a citation, and a memento.

State Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, "We are thrilled to honor these actors and film personalities for their remarkable contribution towards enriching the art and culture of not just Maharashtra, but the entire country."

This recognition highlights the enduring impact of these artists on Indian cinema and their significant roles in shaping the cultural landscape of the nation.
