Upon hearing the script, Pannu felt an immediate and strong connection to the role, exclaiming, “When she finished the narration, I just laughed. I told her, 'Ye meri kismat mein thi (I was meant to do this film), I had told you before.' It was an immediate yes from me.”

She remarked, “I am not the ideal cast for it, apart from the grey part of it. Because anything grey, that is not right on paper, I am the go-to person. Apart from that, nothing was suiting my casting in the film.
