Apple has officially announced the launch event for its highly anticipated iPhone 16 series. The event is scheduled for September 9, 2024, following months of speculation and leaks. Apple has begun sending out invites with the cryptic message "It is Glowtime," hinting at potential new features or themes for the upcoming launch.Â
The event will be held in person at Apple Park, with the option to livestream the presentation online. For viewers in India, the event will start at 10:30 PM IST and will be available to watch on Apple's official YouTube channel.
The iPhone 16 series is expected to include four models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The base and Plus models are rumored to feature minor upgrades, such as a new chipset, a larger battery, a redesigned vertical rear camera layout, and an updated Action button. These models are anticipated to retain their existing displays and camera setups.
In contrast, the Pro models are predicted to receive significant enhancements, including substantial camera upgrades, a slimmer design, a larger display with minimal bezels, and a new chipset. A bigger battery is also expected, though it remains unclear if faster charging will be introduced. All iPhone 16 models are likely to support Apple's new Intelligence features.
Pricing details have also emerged ahead of the event. The iPhone 16 base model is expected to start at $799 (approximately Rs 67,100 in India), while the iPhone 16 Plus may be priced at $899 (around Rs 75,500). The iPhone 16 Pro is anticipated to cost $1,099 (about Rs 92,300) for the 256GB variant, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max is projected to start at $1,199 (around Rs 1,00,700). Prices in India could be higher due to customs charges and other factors.
In addition to the new iPhones, Apple is likely to unveil new watches and AirPods during the September event. A second Apple event is expected to take place in October 2024, where the company may introduce a new lineup of Macs.
