Originally, *Barroz* was slated for release on March 28, 2024. However, the film encountered delays due to extensive post-production work. The situation was further complicated by a legal dispute when a German-based Malayali writer issued a copyright infringement notice against the film. The team has kept a low profile regarding the allegations, not addressing them publicly in the media.
Interestingly, the film's journey began under the direction of Jijo Punnoose, who was initially credited with the story's concept. Punnoose also took pride in the originality of the narrative. However, following numerous script revisions—reportedly over 20 drafts—Mohanlal decided to take over the directorial reins to ensure the film matched his vision.
