Google is gearing up for the launch of its Pixel 9 series in India on August 14, and the excitement is already palpable with some significant leaks and early listings. Two models from the Pixel 9 series—the Pixel 9 Pro XL and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold—have appeared on Flipkart ahead of their official unveiling. This early listing hints that these might be the primary models available in India, contrary to the initial expectation that Google would introduce four models: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Recent leaks have provided insight into the anticipated pricing of the new Pixel devices. The Pixel 9 Pro is rumored to start at $999, roughly translating to Rs 83,867, aligning with the launch price of the Pixel 8 Pro. However, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, which is expected to be the flagship model and a successor to the Pixel 8 Pro, might carry a higher price tag of around $1,200, or Rs 1,01,000, for the 256GB and 512GB variants. This would mark a $200 increase from last year’s Pro model.
If these projections hold, the base Pixel 9 could debut at approximately $900, which is around Rs 75,556. While these prices reflect US expectations, it’s important to remember that the Indian market often sees a premium. For instance, the Pixel 8 Pro launched at $999 in the US but was priced at Rs 1,06,999 in India for the 128GB variant. Consequently, if history repeats, the Pixel 9 Pro could debut in India with a substantial price increase, potentially around Rs 23,000 higher than the US price.
On a more positive note for fans of foldable technology, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold might maintain its price from the previous model, which could make it an appealing choice in the premium foldable segment.
In terms of specifications, the Pixel 9 Pro is expected to feature a 6.3-inch display, 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. The camera setup is rumored to include a significant upgrade, with a 48-megapixel telephoto lens and a 42-megapixel front camera.
Recent leaks have also offered a glimpse of the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s design, showcasing a geometric pattern on the back of the device. However, since the screen was not visible, this prototype may still be subject to change.
As the official launch date approaches, more details about the Pixel 9 series are likely to emerge, keeping tech enthusiasts and prospective buyers eagerly awaiting the final announcement.
