In "Coolie," Aamir Khan and Rajinikanth will reconnect after 30 years: Reports

Aamir Khan and Rajinikanth might be reuniting on the big screen in a much-anticipated collaboration. Their last joint venture was the 1995 film *Aatank Hi Aatank*, which also starred Juhi Chawla. This exciting news involves their potential collaboration in Rajinikanth's upcoming film *Coolie*, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is renowned for his successful projects like *Kaithi* and *Vikram*.

According to various media reports, Aamir Khan is expected to appear in a special cameo role in *Coolie*. While details about his role remain sparse, his involvement has generated significant buzz among fans of both actors. Despite the anticipation, Aamir Khan will not have a substantial role in the film; instead, his appearance will be more of a special feature rather than a major part of the storyline.

*Coolie* has faced some changes in its cast lineup. Originally, the film was set to feature Nagarjuna as the lead antagonist, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the role was reassigned to Kannada actor Upendra Rao. The film boasts a strong supporting cast, including Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, actress Shruti Haasan, and actor Rana Daggubati, each playing crucial roles that are expected to add depth to the film's narrative.

Interestingly, while many assumed that *Coolie* would be part of Lokesh Kanagaraj's cinematic universe, the director has confirmed that the film is a standalone project. This revelation has stirred excitement among fans who were eager to see how *Coolie* would fit into the broader Lokesh Cinematic Universe. However, Kanagaraj has assured that the universe will expand with forthcoming films like *Kaithi 2* and *Vikram 2*.

Filming for *Coolie* began in Hyderabad in July 2024, and the film is slated for release in the latter half of 2025. The production is expected to be a major event, given the high-profile cast and the director's reputation.

In addition to his work on *Coolie*, Rajinikanth is also preparing for his role in *Vettaiyan*, directed by TJ Gnanavel, which promises to be another significant addition to his illustrious career. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is busy with *Sitaare Zameen Par*, a Hindi remake of the Spanish film *Champions*, where he stars alongside Genelia Deshmukh. This film marks a significant project for Aamir as he continues to explore diverse roles and genres in his career.
