India's Maheshwari Chauhan and Anantjeet Singh have qualified for the bronze medal match in the Skeet mixed team event after finishing 4th in the qualifying round on Monday, August 5. The Indian duo finished tied on points with team China, both ending up with 146 points, which set up a contest for the bronze medal. Italy and the USA will be competing for the gold medal, having finished first and second with 149 and 148 points, respectively. 

Maheshwari and Anantjeet showcased consistent form throughout the qualifying rounds. In the first round, Maheshwari missed only one shot, resulting in a score of 24, while Anantjeet achieved a perfect 25, giving them a total of 49 points. The second round saw Maheshwari hit a perfect 25, but Anantjeet faced some challenges, managing 23 points out of 25. Despite this, they remained competitive, positioning themselves against top teams and fending off the challenge from the second Italian team of Martina Bartolomei and Tammaro Cassandro.

In the final round, Maheshwari continued her impressive performance, scoring another perfect 25. Anantjeet missed one shot, scoring 24, but their combined score of 49 was enough to secure their place in the bronze medal match. Bartolomei and Cassandro ended with 144 points, falling short compared to the Indian duo's 146.

Maheshwari and Anantjeet will now face China in the bronze medal match, presenting a crucial opportunity to bring home India's fourth medal in shooting. Their consistent performance throughout the qualifiers has set high expectations for the final showdown. The Indian pair has shown remarkable composure and skill, particularly in high-pressure situations, which will be essential in their upcoming match against China. The bronze medal match is not just an opportunity for individual accolades but also a chance to contribute to India's overall medal tally in the sport.
