Manu Bhaker thanks Bhupinder Hooda and Rajnath Singh at their meeting

Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker recently met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to express her gratitude for their support. Bhaker, who had just returned from the Paris Olympics where she won two bronze medals, also met with Sonia Gandhi the day before.

In an X post, the pistol shooter shared her appreciation for the Defence Minister, writing, "I am honoured to have the opportunity to meet with the Hon'ble Defence Minister of India, Shri Rajnath Singh at his office in New Delhi. I am grateful he took time out from his busy schedule to offer his support and inspired me with his words of motivation." The Defence Minister reciprocated by posting an image of their meeting and writing, "Delighted to meet India's ace shooter, Manu Bhaker, who scripted history at the Paris Olympics by winning two Bronze medals for the country. Every Indian is elated by her incredible performances. Best wishes for her future endeavours."

Bhaker also received warm congratulations from Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who shared images of their meeting on social media. He wrote, "Today I felicitated and congratulated the daughter of the nation and pride of Haryana, Manu Bhaker, who created history by winning two medals in the same Olympic edition, at my Delhi residence. We are proud of our players. I also wish Manu a bright future. Many congratulations to her entire family."

On Wednesday, upon her return to India from Paris, Manu Bhaker met Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi. The Congress's X post in Hindi read, "Today Manu Bhaker, who brought glory to the country by winning two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, met CPP Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi."

Manu Bhaker’s composure and determination were on full display during the Paris Olympics. Alongside Indian shooter Sarabjot Singh, Bhaker won the 10m air pistol mixed team bronze, defeating South Korea to secure the country’s second medal at the Games. This victory made Bhaker the first Indian post-independence to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympics. She had earlier secured a bronze medal in the women's 10m air pistol event.

Upon her return, Bhaker received a rousing welcome, reflecting the pride and joy of the nation in her achievements. Her meetings with prominent leaders underscored the widespread recognition and support for her remarkable accomplishments on the international stage.
