Paul Rudd and Jack Black are in talks to make a new "Anaconda" movie: Report

Hollywood stars Jack Black and Paul Rudd are reportedly in early discussions to join a new installment of the *Anaconda* franchise, with Sony Pictures leading the charge on this exciting project. Although formal agreements have yet to be finalized, industry insiders suggest that both actors are highly interested in starring in this new jungle adventure film, which aims to reboot and reimagine the beloved 1997 thriller.

The screenplay for this fresh take on *Anaconda* has been crafted by Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, the duo behind the critically acclaimed *The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent*. Gormican is also set to take on the director's role, promising a creative and dynamic approach to the franchise. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form will produce the film through their Fully Formed production banner, adding a wealth of experience to the project.

While Sony Pictures has not yet released an official statement regarding the film, the buzz surrounding Black and Rudd's potential involvement is already significant. Their participation could bring a unique blend of humor and action to the film, which may reinvigorate the franchise and attract a diverse audience.

The original *Anaconda* film, which debuted in 1997, was a sleeper hit that exceeded box office expectations. Featuring a cast that includes Jennifer Lopez, Jon Voight, Owen Wilson, and Ice Cube, the movie follows a documentary crew who find themselves at the mercy of an eccentric and dangerous hunter. This hunter forces them to accompany him on a perilous journey to capture the world's largest and most lethal snake, an anaconda. Despite its modest production budget, the film garnered significant success, grossing $145 million worldwide, with $65 million coming from domestic theaters.

With the prospect of Black and Rudd taking on leading roles, the new *Anaconda* film is generating considerable excitement and anticipation. Their potential involvement hints at a fresh, entertaining twist on the classic thriller, promising to engage both long-time fans and a new generation of viewers.
