The foldable iPhone and another Apple device are anticipated to launch in 2026

Apple has yet to enter the foldable device market, but the company is preparing to make a significant impact with not just one, but potentially two groundbreaking foldable devices shortly. According to recent reports, including one from GSMArena, Apple is working on a flip-style foldable iPhone and an iPad/MacBook hybrid model featuring a striking 18.8-inch internal display.

The iPad/MacBook hybrid is expected to be the first of these devices to make its debut, with a tentative release planned for the second quarter of 2026. This innovative hybrid model could potentially launch alongside the iPhone 18 series, though its market availability might be pushed to the end of 2026. The hybrid device represents a new direction for Apple, combining the functionality of an iPad with the versatility of a MacBook, potentially transforming the way users interact with their devices.

The foldable iPhone, anticipated to be released later in 2026, is generating considerable buzz. Apple analyst Jeff Pu has indicated that the company is on track with its development schedule, particularly after securing a supply contract for the panels needed for the foldable iPhone. This device is expected to feature advanced artificial intelligence capabilities, enhancing its user experience and expanding its functionality. Apple has reportedly engaged with suppliers in Asia to source components for these foldable devices and has assigned an internal code name, V68, to the foldable iPhone project. This reflects the company's serious commitment to making foldable technology a reality.

Despite the excitement surrounding these upcoming devices, it is crucial to note that Apple has not yet officially confirmed the launch of either the foldable iPhone or the iPad/MacBook hybrid. As with any pre-release information, details are subject to change, and no definitive announcements have been made by the company. The anticipation is high, but until Apple provides official confirmation, all information should be considered speculative.

In the interim, Apple’s immediate focus remains on the upcoming iPhone 16 series, which is set to be unveiled this September. During the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024, Apple showcased several new features under its Apple Intelligence initiative, which are expected to be integrated into the iPhone 16 series. However, recent reports suggest that some of these highly anticipated features might be delayed. For instance, a major overhaul of Siri and potential integrations with OpenAI could be postponed until after the release of iOS 18. These updates are now expected to debut with iOS 18.1 in October, with additional enhancements potentially stretching into 2025. This timeline reflects Apple’s approach to gradually rolling out new features and ensuring they meet the high standards expected by its users.
