The Google Pixel 9 series is coming in one week. Here's everything we currently know

The much-anticipated Google Pixel 9 series is set to make its debut in India on August 14, and the excitement is palpable. The new lineup will include four distinct models: the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Each model is expected to bring a host of advanced features and improvements, particularly in AI and camera technology, marking a significant upgrade from the previous generation.

The Google Pixel 9 series promises to offer state-of-the-art technology with its deep integration of Google's latest AI advancements, specifically the Gemini AI. Although the company has teased some features, many details remain under wraps. However, various leaks and rumors have provided intriguing glimpses into what to expect from the new models.

Starting with the display, it is rumored that the base Pixel 9 will sport a 6.3-inch screen and will be available in four colors: black, light grey, porcelain, and pink. The exact names of these colors may differ in marketing. The design of the base Pixel 9 is expected to feature sharp rounded corners, a matte finish on the back, and polished metal edges.

The Pixel 9 Pro is also anticipated to have a 6.3-inch display, similar to the base model, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL might offer a larger 6.8-inch screen. Both Pro models are expected to share color options with the Pixel 9 but will have a more pronounced camera bump to distinguish them. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold, a new addition to Google's lineup, is speculated to have a 6.3-inch outer display and an expansive 8-inch main screen when unfolded.

Battery life and charging speeds are expected to be improved in the Pixel 9 series. Reports suggest that the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro will be capable of charging up to 55 percent in just 30 minutes, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL could charge up to 70 percent in the same timeframe. This enhanced performance will be powered by a new 45W USB-C charger, which is a step up from the current 30W charger. The Pixel 9 Pro XL will come with a 5,060mAh battery, slightly larger than the 5,050mAh battery in its predecessor, the Pixel 8 Pro. Google is promising up to 24 hours of battery life for all models, with an extended option of up to 100 hours using Extreme Battery Saver mode.

Under the hood, the entire Pixel 9 lineup is expected to feature Google's new Tensor G4 chipset, offering a significant performance boost over previous models. The base Pixel 9 is rumored to come with 12GB of RAM, while the Pro models, including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, are said to include 16GB of RAM, which should enhance the overall speed and efficiency of the devices.

In terms of camera capabilities, the Pixel 9 is anticipated to have a 10.5-megapixel front camera and a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP wide lens and a 48MP ultrawide lens. The Pixel 9 Pro might come with a 42-megapixel front camera and a more advanced triple rear camera array, including a 50MP main sensor, a 48MP ultrawide lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to feature a 10MP front camera and a triple rear setup with a 48MP main sensor, a 10.5MP ultrawide lens, and a 10.8MP telephoto lens.

The series will also be powered by advanced AI features. While specific details are still emerging, leaks suggest that the Pixel 9 series could include innovations like Gemini AI, Circle to Search, and Magic Editor. The Magic Editor is expected to offer text prompts for enhanced image editing, while the "Add Me" feature could allow users to insert themselves into group photos seamlessly. The Circle to Search feature will likely improve search capabilities, and the Pixel Screenshots feature will make it easier to save and find information from screenshots. Additionally, Pixel 9 users are expected to benefit from Pixel Drops, which will provide exclusive features and enhancements.

As the launch date approaches, anticipation continues to build for what promises to be an exciting new chapter in Google's smartphone offerings.
