Deepika Padukone is very professional, yet not overly friendly: Gulshan Devaiah

Actor Gulshan Devaiah recently shared his reflections on working with Deepika Padukone during the making of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's opulent 2013 film *Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela*. Devaiah, who was relatively early in his acting career at the time, had the opportunity to collaborate with Padukone and her co-star Ranveer Singh. In his interview with Filmygyan’s YouTube channel, Devaiah offered an insightful perspective on Padukone's professionalism and the dynamics on set.

Describing Padukone, Devaiah emphasized her commitment to her craft and her professional demeanor. He stated, "I think it was the first time I worked with anybody and I felt that this is a professional actor. She is very to the point. She is friendly but not over-friendly. She will make you comfortable, but not like you could be friends with her. There is a limit, but there is an ease of work as well. She is extremely hardworking." Devaiah's comments underscore Padukone's ability to create a productive and comfortable work environment while maintaining professional boundaries.

Devaiah also revealed his personal bias towards Padukone, which he attributed to their shared roots in Bengaluru. "I am very biased about Deepika Padukone. She is from Bengaluru, my city. I like her. You can’t say anything bad about her," he admitted. This connection, combined with Padukone’s professional approach, contributed to Devaiah's admiration for her.

In contrast, Devaiah described Ranveer Singh as a "ball of energy" and someone who is "always charged," highlighting Singh's vibrant and dynamic presence on set. The interaction between Singh's energetic personality and Padukone's reserved professionalism created an interesting dynamic during the film’s production.

Devaiah also reflected on the early stages of the romance between Singh and Padukone, recalling moments from the film’s set. In an earlier interview with Bollywood Hungama, he noted a significant change during the second schedule of the film, which took place in Udaipur. "We didn’t notice anything during the first schedule. But my second schedule was in Udaipur, and suddenly, I saw her sitting in his lap. I was like, when did this happen? I think Ranveer was smitten by her right from the beginning. This I don’t know for sure, but from what I remember, he was very smitten by her right from the beginning. I think jee-jaan laga ke pursue kiya hoga," Devaiah said, reflecting on the early signs of their relationship.

*Ram-Leela*, known for its grand visuals and Bhansali's distinctive directorial style, was a landmark film in both actors' careers and remains a notable example of their exceptional performances. Devaiah’s candid remarks offer a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes dynamics and the personalities that contributed to the film's success.
