Actor Jayam Ravi recently addressed the unfolding situation surrounding his divorce from Aarti, specifically responding to her claims of being caught off guard by the announcement. In a detailed statement, he refuted her assertion that she had no prior knowledge of the impending divorce, stating that he had previously communicated his intentions to her and her family.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Jayam revealed that he had sent Aarti two legal notices months before he made the divorce public on September 9, 2024. He emphasized that Aarti did not respond to these notices, which left him with no choice but to announce the divorce in light of growing rumors circulating in the media. "I felt compelled to make the divorce announcement public because there were so many rumors already," he explained. "I am answerable to my fans, and when everyone was talking about it, I couldn't just remain silent."
Jayam strongly contested Aarti’s claim that they had never discussed the divorce, insisting that discussions had taken place with both families. "That’s absolutely not true," he stated. "Both our families, Aarti, and I had conversations about this. I had a separate discussion with her where I made my feelings clear. Aarti and her family were fully aware of my intentions." He also mentioned that he had spoken with Aarti's father regarding the matter, expressing confusion over their claims of ignorance.
The actor opened up about the emotional turmoil that led to his decision to seek a divorce, describing a feeling of extreme suffocation within the marriage. He revealed that he had moved out of their home several months ago, taking only one car, and characterized his current lifestyle as that of a "nomad."
When asked about his living situation now, Jayam shared that he relocated to Mumbai but frequently returns to Chennai. He mentioned attending his elder son Aarav’s birthday celebration in June, highlighting his ongoing commitment to his children. "I am very accessible to my children, Aarav and Ayaan," he noted.
