Kate Winslet reveals she got testosterone replacement therapy to feel sexy again

Kate Winslet has recently opened up about her personal health journey, specifically her experience with testosterone replacement therapy, which she underwent to address a significant drop in libido. In a revealing discussion on the podcast *How To Fail with Elizabeth* (Part 1), the acclaimed actress candidly shared her insights on the connection between hormonal imbalances and sexual health.

Winslet, known for her roles in *Titanic* and *The Reader*, discussed how fluctuations in hormone levels, including testosterone, can impact libido and overall sexual well-being. She explained that many women experience a decline in libido due to hormonal changes, particularly as they age. Winslet elaborated on the topic, noting, "Sometimes women experience a significant drop in libido due to underlying health issues, such as thyroid problems." She offered practical advice to listeners seeking to improve their sex lives, emphasizing the role of testosterone in maintaining sexual health.

Further into the conversation, Winslet revealed that she underwent testosterone replacement therapy herself, stating, "A lot of people don't know this, but women have testosterone in their bodies, and when it runs out — like eggs — it's gone. Once it's gone, you have to replace it, and that is something that can be done. You'll feel sexy again. I know." Her openness about this aspect of her health aims to demystify the topic and encourage others to seek help if they are experiencing similar issues.

Winslet's discussion also touched on broader themes of aging and self-empowerment. She offered an empowering perspective on the aging process, suggesting that women often become more confident and self-assured as they grow older. "I think women, as they get older, get juicier and sexier and more embedded in their truth of who they are and more powerful, more able to walk through the world and care less and that is an empowering thing," Winslet shared. This viewpoint reflects her belief in embracing one's evolving identity and sexuality over time.

On a personal note, Winslet has been married to Edward Abel Smith since 2012. The couple's relationship and Winslet's openness about her personal experiences reflect a broader conversation about health, wellness, and self-acceptance.

In addition to her personal revelations, Winslet's professional life continues to thrive. Her upcoming film, *Lee*, made its theatrical debut in the UK on September 13, 2024. The film, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, is highly anticipated and represents a significant addition to Winslet's diverse and accomplished filmography.
