American rapper Sean Diddy Combs has been charged with sex trafficking and racketeering, according to a federal indictment released on Tuesday.Combs was detained late Monday in Manhattan, some six months after federal agents raided his luxury mansions in Los Angeles and Miami as part of a sex trafficking probe.Over the last year, Combs has been sued by persons who claim he abused them physically or sexually. He has disputed many of these charges.and his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, said outside the courthouse Tuesday morning that Combs will plead not guilty and that he would "fight like hell" to get his client out of jail.Agnifilo described Combs as having "good spirits." "He is confident."

Combs, 54, was regarded as one of hip-hop's most prominent figures before a slew of claims surfaced over the last year, transforming him into an industry pariah. In November, his former girlfriend, Rand B singer Cassie, whose legal name is Casandra Ventura, filed a complaint alleging that he had abused and raped her for years. She accused Combs of coercing her and others into having unwanted intercourse in drug-fueled circumstances.

The lawsuit was settled in one day, but months later, CNN published hotel security footage of Combs punching, kicking, and throwing Cassie to the ground. After the footage was released, Combs apologized, saying, "I was disgusted when I did it."

However, Combs and his counsel refuted similar charges made by others in a series of cases. Douglas Wigdor, Cassie's lawyer, stated in a statement Tuesday that "neither Ms Ventura nor I have any comment." We appreciate your understanding, and if anything changes, we will let you know," he said.
A lady claimed Combs raped her at the age of 17 two decades ago. A music producer sued Combs, claiming he was compelled to have sex with prostitutes. Another woman, April Lampros, claimed Combs subjected her to "terrifying sexual encounters" beginning when she was a college student in 1994.Bad Boy Records founder Sean Combs has previously avoided legal issues.

He was cleared in 2001 of charges stemming from a two-year-old Manhattan nightclub shooting that injured three people. Shyne, his then-protege, was convicted of assault and other counts and spent roughly eight years behind bars.
