After the re-release on September 13, 2024, the film has added Rs 2.5 crore to its lifetime total, now standing at Rs 102.60 crore worldwide, an impressive milestone for a film that continues to resonate with audiences.
*Veer-Zaara*’s re-release success demonstrates the deep connection fans still have with this poignant romantic saga. Overseas, the film brought in Rs 23 lakh from its re-release, and earlier in February 2024, it had earned Rs 30 lakh, showing that the film’s appeal has endured across multiple viewings.Â
Directed by Yash Chopra and produced by Yash Raj Films, *Veer-Zaara* marked Chopra’s third collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan, after *Darr* and *Dil To Pagal Hai*. In addition to Shah Rukh, the film featured a stellar cast, including Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani, Kirron Kher, Anupam Kher, and Divya Dutta.Â
The film tells the deeply emotional story of Veer Pratap Singh, an Indian Air Force officer (played by Shah Rukh Khan), and Zaara Hayaat Khan, a Pakistani woman (played by Preity Zinta). Their love story is complicated by political and cultural divides, and Veer’s eventual imprisonment in Pakistan leaves them separated for years. Rani Mukerji’s lawyer character takes on the challenge of reuniting the star-crossed lovers in an emotionally charged legal battle. The film's themes of love, sacrifice, and unity continue to strike a chord with audiences, reaffirming its place as one of Bollywood’s most iconic love stories.
