Nayab Saini is set to take oath as Haryana Chief Minister on October 15

BJP leader Nayab Singh Saini is poised to take the oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana for a second consecutive term on October 15, following his remarkable leadership during the recent Haryana Assembly elections. Under his guidance, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved an extraordinary third consecutive victory, clinching 48 out of the 90 Assembly seats available, which represents their best electoral performance in the state to date. 

To ensure a smooth and well-organized oath-taking ceremony, a 10-member committee has been established by the state chief secretary. This committee, led by the Panchkula District Commissioner, is tasked with overseeing all arrangements for the ceremony, reflecting the importance of the occasion. High-profile attendees are anticipated at the event, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several top leaders from the BJP, along with Chief Ministers from other BJP-ruled states. Their presence underscores the significance of this victory for the party at both state and national levels.

Nayab Singh Saini's appointment as Chief Minister comes after a strategic decision by the BJP, which had indicated prior to the elections that he would be their candidate for the top position if the party won. Saini's background as a leader from the Other Backward Classes (OBCs), a major voter demographic in Haryana, played a pivotal role in galvanizing support for the BJP during the elections. Following the resounding electoral victory earlier this week, Saini and other newly-elected BJP MLAs from Haryana convened with the senior party leadership in Delhi. During these meetings, Saini engaged in discussions with influential party figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah, and Union Minister JP Nadda. These meetings reflect the party's focus on solidifying its leadership and strategy moving forward.

The BJP's electoral triumph in Haryana is particularly noteworthy, as it defied a decade-long trend of anti-incumbency sentiments and surpassed the predictions made by various exit polls. The Congress party, which was aiming for a comeback in the state, ended up with 37 seats, a result that fell short of their expectations. Meanwhile, the JJP, which had allied with the BJP from 2019 until March 2024, faced a significant decline, leaving them with minimal representation. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) failed to win any seats in this election cycle, while the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) managed to secure just two seats. Additionally, three independent candidates, including the notable Savitri Jindal, won in the elections and have opted to support the BJP, further strengthening the party's position in the assembly.

This victory not only highlights the BJP's growing influence in Haryana but also sets the stage for Saini to implement his vision for the state's development.
