A two-hour pursuit by the Indian Coast Guard to free fishermen apprehended by a Pakistani patrol

On Sunday, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) successfully rescued seven fishermen after a two-hour chase involving a Pakistani ship near the India-Pakistan Maritime Boundary. The incident began when the Pakistani Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) attempted to capture fishermen aboard the Indian boat *Kaal Bhairav*. Despite attempts by the Pakistani ship to retreat, the ICG intervened and managed to recover the fishermen, who were reported to be in stable condition. Unfortunately, the Indian fishing vessel *Kaal Bhairav* was damaged and ultimately sank during the confrontation.

The ICG was alerted around 3:30 PM when a distress call was received from an Indian vessel operating near the No-Fishing Zone (NFZ), reporting that a fisherman aboard *Kaal Bhairav* had been seized by a Pakistani ship. The ICG dispatched a ship to the area, which engaged the PMSA vessel in a pursuit. The Coast Guard asserted its determination to prevent the fishermen's capture and, after an intense chase, succeeded in convincing the Pakistani ship to release them.

Following the rescue, a video shared by the ICG showed the high-stakes pursuit, with the ICG ship in hot pursuit of the PMSA vessel, which was attempting to take the captured fishermen toward Pakistani waters. After securing the safety of the fishermen, the ICG ship returned to Okha Harbour on November 18. A joint investigation involving the ICG, state police, and intelligence agencies is now underway to examine the events leading up to the chase, the damage to *Kaal Bhairav*, and the overall circumstances of the rescue operation.
