The Veteran Defence Forces Group (VDFG) recently hosted a special event to honor the alumni of the National Defence Academy (NDA) from the first to the 28th courses. The event celebrated the remarkable achievements and sacrifices of over 280 distinguished officers and their spouses, who have made significant contributions to the nation's defense and overall prosperity.
Among the attendees were 15 three-star officers, 27 two-star officers, and 40 one-star officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. These alumni had played vital roles in pivotal military operations, including the wars of 1962, 1965, and 1971, and many had been decorated with India’s highest gallantry awards such as the Param Vir Chakra, Maha Vir Chakra, Vir Chakra, and Sena Medal.
This year’s event saw a broader representation compared to the previous year's gathering, which included alumni from the 18th to the 28th NDA courses. The meeting successfully brought together a wider range of alumni from all 28 courses, further strengthening the bonds of camaraderie within the defense community.
Founded in 1986, the VDFG has consistently worked to improve the lives of veterans and their families, focusing on economic growth, affordable housing, and various philanthropic initiatives. The group’s annual gatherings, like this one, serve as a reminder of the enduring legacy of service and leadership, inspiring future military leaders and ensuring that the sacrifices of veterans are recognized and celebrated.
