Ryan Reynolds reacts to rumors of him presenting the Oscars with Hugh Jackman

Actor Ryan Reynolds recently addressed and unequivocally dispelled the swirling rumours that he and his *Deadpool* co-star Hugh Jackman would be hosting the 2025 Academy Awards. The buzz had been mounting that the two beloved stars, known for their dynamic on-screen chemistry and playful camaraderie, might reunite to co-host the 97th Academy Awards on March 2, 2025. This speculation, however, was put to rest when Reynolds spoke to *Variety* for the *Awards Circuit* podcast.

The 48-year-old actor, who has gained global recognition for his roles in films such as *Deadpool*, *The Proposal*, and *Free Guy*, confirmed that the reports were simply not true. Reynolds, known for his quick wit and humorous demeanor, took the opportunity to share his perspective on the pressures of hosting such a high-profile event. He explained, “No, I don’t— historically speaking, that is a difficult job, you know. We've had people that have come before us that did it flawlessly, I think, and you've had people who are so talented and just based on what's happening out there in the zeitgeist you're like, ‘Oh, that was hard. It's a very hard job’." His candid response highlighted the immense challenges of hosting the Oscars, a role which requires not only a mastery of comedy and timing but also the ability to navigate unexpected situations with poise and humor.

Despite his reluctance to take on the hosting role at this time, Reynolds did express his admiration for those who have hosted the Oscars in the past, acknowledging the sheer difficulty of the task. However, he also hinted that hosting the Oscars might be something he would consider in the future. "It (Hosting the Oscars) would be a dream to do it one day," Reynolds said, leaving the door open for a potential future opportunity. But for now, his focus remains on other ventures. "I'm really just spending the year writing a movie for myself, Hugh (Jackman), and Shawn (Levy) to do that is not Marvel, and that’s kind of it," Reynolds shared. This revelation has sparked excitement among fans, as it suggests that the dynamic duo of Reynolds and Jackman will continue to collaborate, though the film in question won’t be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The 2025 Oscars ceremony, set to be held at the renowned Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, will no doubt be a highly anticipated event, especially after the recent decisions by other potential hosts to turn down the opportunity. Earlier this year, comedians Jimmy Kimmel and *John Mulaney* both declined offers to take on the hosting duties for the prestigious event. With Reynolds and Jackman not taking the reins, it will be interesting to see who the Academy selects to guide the star-studded evening.

While the Oscars hosting gig may not be in the cards for Reynolds and Jackman this time, the two stars will still be seen working together in *Deadpool 3*, which has become one of the most anticipated films of the coming years. Fans are eagerly awaiting to see their beloved characters, Wade Wilson (Deadpool) and Logan (Wolverine), team up again in what promises to be an action-packed and hilariously irreverent continuation of the *Deadpool* franchise. Although *Deadpool 3* will bring Reynolds and Jackman back together, it seems their time in the Oscars spotlight will have to wait, at least for now.

The 2025 Academy Awards, which will be broadcast live globally, will undoubtedly be a major event in the entertainment industry, with or without Reynolds and Jackman hosting. The buzz surrounding the Oscars will continue to build as the Academy finalizes their choice for the host, and as we get closer to the ceremony, more details will surely emerge. For now, fans of both stars can rest easy knowing that while they won't be hosting the event, they will continue to shine in their own unique ways, both in and out of the Marvel universe.
