Watch: Tom Cruise faces a new adversary in Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning trailer

After officially announcing the release date of the final installment in the *Mission: Impossible* franchise, *Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning*, Paramount Pictures has unveiled the highly anticipated teaser trailer, giving fans their first glimpse of what to expect from the action-packed conclusion.

The two-minute teaser opens with an intense look at Tom Cruise’s character, IMF agent Ethan Hunt, as he continues his perilous mission to stop the formidable AI known as "The Entity." Picking up right where 2022's *Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One* left off, the trailer showcases Cruise in a series of thrilling, high-stakes sequences. Among the most jaw-dropping moments, the 62-year-old actor is seen sprinting through various landscapes, including a dramatic chase where he seems to be pursuing an airplane and, in a wild twist, potentially catching it mid-flight. There are also scenes of Hunt engaging in a knife fight and narrowly escaping a powerful explosion in a tunnel.

Known for performing many of his own stunts, Cruise doesn’t hold back in *The Final Reckoning*. In one action-packed scene, he hangs off the side of a plane during a mid-air fight, continuing the franchise's tradition of jaw-dropping, gravity-defying moments. As the trailer builds in intensity, Cruise delivers a gripping line to his team: "I need you to trust me," which sets the tone for the high-risk decisions that lie ahead.

Cruise, who has become synonymous with the *Mission: Impossible* series, shared his excitement about the final film on Instagram, posting, "Our lives are the sum of our choices," reflecting the high-stakes nature of the final chapter.

Directed once again by Christopher McQuarrie, who has been a key figure in shaping the recent installments of the franchise, *The Final Reckoning* brings back the core ensemble cast. Alongside Cruise, fans will see Henry Czerny reprising his role as the enigmatic IMF director, along with returning stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Pom Klementieff, and Vanessa Kirby. The film also adds new faces, with Hannah Waddingham, Nick Offerman, Katy O’Brian, and Tramell Tillman joining the action.

The final chapter in the *Mission: Impossible* saga is set to release worldwide on May 23, 2025, and promises to be a thrilling and emotional conclusion to one of Hollywood’s most enduring action franchises.
